Mmcdee Moyo is a Keyboardist & producer whose exuberance shines high through his performances and productions. Born in Victoria Falls Zimbabwe, he currently resides in Canada. MmcDee is an innovative musician who has performed in many countries around the world.
His musical journey began in the church, where he would improvise alongside spiritual sounds. It was while working at Mama Africa’s Eating House, that the Boss observed his musical enthusiasm and introduced him to Robert Mantegna, a pianist from the Mandebvu Jazz band, who taught him many of the fundamentals. YouTube, also became a place where he acquired piano skills.
With five school friends, who all shared a passion for music, together they were keen to put a band together. A relative of one of the boys had a collection of instruments, and after viewing the youngster’s passion for music, offered them the instruments to practice. Each and every one of the young guys held a musical talent, and together a special musical alliance emerged.
In 2008, the group gained an opportunity to perform at the “Music Crossroads Inter-Regional Festival” in Malawi. Their strong musical collective as a band, helped them win a prize, for touring ten European countries. Naming themselves “Mokoomba,” the band recorded their debut album, which was a fusion of Soukous, Reggae & funk.
With a solid enthusiasm and work ethic, their performances were exciting and energetic. Touring the world to perform on various continents became their next step. They oozed their musical energies in Africa, North America, Australia, Europe, and Asia. The band have taken to the stage of some of the world’s top festivals such as “The Gnaous World Music Festival” of Morocco, “the UK’s Womad Festival, and South Korea’s, “Gwanju World Music Festival.” The band has shared the same stage with a ton of top world artists such as Salif Keita, Youssou Ndour, Richard Bona & Nas.
In 2021, the Covid pandemic stopped many artists & bands from performing. Mmcdee didn’t waste any time, using the period wisely, his production skills developed deeper, and he began working on a variety of projects. Experimenting with a fusion of Electro sounds, he brought the same creativity & energy into his productions as he does with his performances.
Venturing over into Canada, he left the popular band and began working on various projects, there are many in the pipeline.

Zimbabwe is a country located in Southern Africa and has a fascinating history. Once known as “The Kingdom of Zimbabwe,” The Shona tribe were known for their trading empire. With a population of around 15 million, the 3 main languages are Shona, Ndebele & English as well as thirteen other official languages.
Graced with some amazing sightseeing places, like the City of Great Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls, and various National Parks.
The Arts are quite prominent in society and Zimbabweans are highly regarded for pottery, crafts, and music. Their music diversity, and storytelling is a rich part of the country’s history. Traditional music came from drums and instruments such as the mbira.
There is a warm high energy in Zimbabwean music, and dance is closely allied to it. The legends of Zimbabwean music, are artists such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Thomas Mapfumo, Jonah Sithole and Stella Chiweshe.
