Abdoulaye Samb is a Senegalese artist whose home is in London UK.

A singer/songwriter and guitarist, Abdoulaye is a natural-born storyteller whose music is entertaining and uplifting.

Playing with his band, “Minnjiaraby,” their music holds a dynamic and captivating presence. Uniting the audience, he invites them to sing along, and the connection becomes joyous.

Abdoulaye grew up in the capital Dakar. As he reached adulthood he relocated to the Sea Town of Yen, it was there he found work in a hardware store. With a strong passion for music, it sparked a desire for him to learn guitar, but due to his finances being low, he wasn’t able to purchase one. Determined to become a musician, he built a guitar from an oil can and fishing wire.

As time went by, he returned to Dakar, and his passion for the instrument was noticed by the legendary Mamaya Kanoute, a griot musician. Observing Abdoulaye’s desire to play, the respected musician offered to become his teacher & mentor. It was then Abdoulaye’s guitarist skills began, and he soaked up all the information given by his tutor. His musical education continued right up until a year before Mamaya’s passing. Later, Abdoulaye was complimented by the local community who could see Mamaya’s legacy passed on through the musician’s playing style.

After relocating to London, he formed the band “Minnjiaraby” a fusion of Senegalese and local musicians who each hold their individual flair as talented musicians. As a musical collective, they present a strong warm arrangement of musical niceness. Abdoulaye & minnjiaraby released the album “Wouty,” in 2013, and has played at many events right up until today.

The Senegalese singer/songwriter also performs a powerful acoustic set, which unfolds into an expressive moving journey of beautifully sung songs which are interwoven with his charming guitar style.
