Senny Camara is a gracious Kora player and singer from Senegal, West Africa.

Born in the Suburbs, she was raised in Tataguine, a region of Thiès, East of Dakar. The district community maintains many of its cultural practices, including mystical ones. Proud of their cultural traditions, there is a particular custom called the “The Ndeup.” A method which focuses on healing the spirit, and is relayed in the natural form of rhythm, dance, and spiritual offerings. The benefit of growing up in a natural environment contributed to Senny keeping a connection with her roots, and today, she gives back by presenting it within her music.

As a young adult, Senny relocated to the capital Dakar, where she enrolled at the National School for Arts to study Traditional Music. While around the capital, she performed in various hotels, and gigs in the region and captured the eye of Senegalese musicians, who recognised her talent. This led to various musical collaborations.

Senny’s musical inspirations came from the likes of Mahawa Kouyaté, Nina Simone and Ali Farka Touré, she admired their natural authenticity. Staying true to yourself as an artist, was an essence she was keen to fulfil.

After relocating to Paris France, she continued to develop her craft and took part in a project with “O’SISTER,” a collective movement, representing women from across the world.

From that time forward, Senny has been travelling the world, performing at various cultural events. The Kora is a beautiful peaceful sounding instrument. The musician shares her natural gift for transporting beautiful melodies through traditional and contemporary styles.
